I’m a figurative painter in oils with a passion for painting ‘en plein air’. Having been lucky enough to travel and work abroad I have been settled on the Devon coast for the past 20 years.
I live a stone’s throw from the beach and the sea heavily influences my work. I spend a lot of time beside, in and on the water, and painting on the beach is my favourite way to spend the afternoon.
Whilst I do work in the studio, I prefer to be out in the elements where I can connect with the landscape and feel the weather. Somehow the results seem fresher, more vibrant and alive.
At 18 I had to make the decision to follow my heart and go to art school or take the safer route and become a doctor.
I took the academic path and enjoyed many years of fulfilling work in the NHS.
But that passion to paint never died.
In 2018 I had the opportunity to follow my dream of becoming a dedicated artist and I am enjoying every minute.
